HERES THE DEAL
Our shelter system is over stressed and underserved. Almost all are running on fume finances, beyond overcrowded, and having to turn animals away daily.
5.8 million pets enter our shelters annually, of those almost 1,000,000 euthanized. Primary reasons for euthanasia are high intake rates, limited shelter capacity, and pet overpopulation. So many of these animals are in dire need of costly medical care, groceries and love.
Therein lies the problem, if shelters are full, and funds and staff is lacking, how can we expect the system to change?
The current process for intake through adoption lacking. There is no centralized database or ease of access on either the shelter or adopter side. To make matters worse, 60% of adopted pets are no longer in their adoptive homes 6 months after being adopted, and a whopping 20% are returned to the original shelter. The more animals adopted out, to the right homes, means less animals returned, more money staying in the shelters, more room to accept more animals in, and adopt out, streamlining and strengthening the shelter full circle.
Our platform will give shelters an easy, quick and low-cost way to upload animals, set appointments, accept reports, manage animals, accept donations, approve and accept payment for adoptions, all in one place, all digitally. Our minimal, yet focused intake profile will be able to place animals in homes better suited for their individual needs, rather than on esthetics.
On the flip side of the animal/shelter side is the individual/adopter side.
If you’re looking to add a furry friend to your life, you’ll jump on the current available online database, search for your pet by age, size and location. Is it fair to reduce a potential new family member to these generic demographics? We don’t think so. Just like us, animals have different personalities, two dogs, same age, breed and size can be so drastically different - one a couch potato and the other a windup toy that never stops. But if you’re super low key and less active, but you fall in love esthetically with the windup toy dog, you’ll both be wildly unhappy in a few months, and likely they’ll end up back in the shelter. Every time an animal is returned, increases their likelihood of euthanasia.
If you’ve walked through a shelter, you’ll understand how overwhelmingly loud, stressful and uncomfortable it is for these poor animals. Which is why the better the match is so important- to get these animals into a home - permanently.
OR, YOU COULD CHECK OUT THE FLOOF DIFFERENCE…
...fill out your lifestyle profile, complete the application online in the convenience of your own home, head up to multiple shelters, flash your ID and get right in… Because not only have you already submitted your application to the shelter remotely, but you’ve also scheduled a meet and greet appointment. You could sit and watch those 5 minute long adoption commercials, precariously tuned to ridiculously sad music while they show you the horrors of animals in need attempting to guilt you into a donation, of which (on average) a minimal amount of funds trickles down to the organizations and shelters that actually need it. OR you could join our pack in the trek to make a business, out of making a difference.
